DOM tubing stands for drawn over mandrel tubing. It is a type of steel tube that is typically made by starting with ERW (electric resistance welded) tubing, then cold drawing it through a die and over an internal mandrel. That extra drawing step improves the tube’s dimensional accuracy, roundness, concentricity, and surface finish, and it also increases strength and consistency compared with standard ERW tubing.

DOM tubing is commonly used in applications where tight tolerances and reliable performance matter, such as roll cages, chassis and suspension parts, steering components, hydraulic cylinder tubing, and industrial machinery. It is often specified in grades like 1020 or 1026. Even though DOM is sometimes referred to as seamless, it is usually not made from a seamless process, so it is best to confirm the required specifications such as OD, ID, wall thickness, and mechanical properties for your project.
